A mob of people forcibly seized the democratic institutions of Brazil, just as happened in 2021 when another crowd did it by invading The House in Washington.

The similarity between the two attempts to end the democracies of the United States and Brazil is striking.

Parallel lives

When Donald Trump was chosen as President of the United States in 2016 and Jair Bolsonaro as president of Brazil in 2018, two very similar political forces were unleashed, seeking to undermine the democratic institutions of both countries.

For four years, these two figures, who shared a similar ultra-conservative ideology and openly expressed their disdain for democracy, worked together to consolidate their power by attacking the rule of law and discrediting the democratic systems of their respective nations.

The convergence of their policies set in motion a dangerous strategic algorithm designed to destabilize the foundations of democracies worldwide.
