NaPoWriMo Day 8

The Puppeteer’s Game

Politician’s Charade

--

Art By Author

“I want the best for you!” they say,

Politicians sing in their own way,

Yet underneath the surface, it is all just a game.

They will manipulate people, anyway.

Like a canary, so sweet and true,

Naive and innocent, as he flew,

Blind to the imminent threat of the hawk,

Fall prey to the puppeteer’s net.

The parrot laughs with a sly smile,

“Squawk, squawk,” he mutters, not one to work with,

He knows the tricks and plays the fool,

While the masses follow like a tool.

“I want the best for you,” sing the politicians,

But it’s just a show, a hollow thing,

Because behind closed doors, they make the plan,

To control us all at our expense.
