Ten books to stop your gluttony once and for all
If when you read, you think of the flavors that reading evokes, “you got it”
Gluttony is one of the classic capital sins of world literature; if I have one, indeed, this is it: I have a sweet tooth. I must admit it, not only with food but also with books. Many years ago, I noticed that you could have a sweet tooth without getting fat or risking your health.
It is elementary, instead of binge eating. I read compulsively, and the result is fabulous:
My mental abilities are excellent,
my general culture is splendid,
and my health is ironclad.
I just bought a Kindle Oasis, a simple device with a screen, super thin and weighing only 188 grams, which makes me think that I have superpowers.
That transports me to dreamlike places, be with fantastic characters, know humanity better, and learn what I need.
The device let me read the poetry of Neruda or the prose of Oscar Wilde through Soyinka, Kawabata, Mahfuz, or whoever I want in the blink of an eye.
This appliance brings to mind flavors that are unmistakable, unforgettable. My taste buds know it very well.
