Stephen King's "On Writing" Gave One of The Best Advice to Write
The last few days, I was thinking about why I had arrived in the state of flow, and one reason immediately came to mind: it is inspired by Stephen King's famous line (above).
There are no exceptions to this rule. No one–not even the best and most experienced writers–sits down to write without first reading. It just doesn't happen.
You can't be a writer without reading because writing is, at its heart, a process of imitation. We start by imitating the writers we admire, and then, as we gain experience, we learn to find our voice. But it all begins with reading.
Reading also aids in the improvement of your vocabulary, which will be helpful when it's time to produce your material.
