My heart

Only those who learn how to fight, know how to love

I keep my heart in a strongbox

Locked away from the world

I don’t want it to be wounded

I don’t want it to be crushed

But sometimes, I can’t help but wonder

What it would be like to let it out

To feel the warmth of another’s a touch

To feel the love of another’s embrace

But then I remember

The torment that comes with love

And I lock my heart away once again

I tell myself it’s for the best

That I’m better off without love

But sometimes, I can’t help but wonder

What it would be like
