For those living with a sensory organ deficit, like being deaf, there are positive challenges that come with it. Being born into an environment where access to education and support networks is available can create powerful opportunities to grow and thrive, as resources help individuals learn how to capitalize on deficits.

A deaf person may contribute in unique ways that would not be possible with one’s hearing intact, leading them down pathways of success that their hearing peers could never access.

Such a challenge can be seen positively by those affected, who focus on what can be done rather than what cannot. The adversity faced by having a sensory organ deficit encourages striving for greater heights and developing relationships and career prospects from which all could benefit.
