I must say that until a few years ago, I was shattered, numb, repeating mistakes, procrastination, and lack of focus on my projects in my life.
Social media held me hostage. But when I improved my attention and focused on doing one thing at a time, I stopped procrastinating, and now I am highly productive.
Today I will not talk about procrastination; It’s time to talk about attention and concentration from the neuroscience perspective and how we can improve our engagement and productivity with mindfulness.
Attention and Neuroscience
Attention is the brain’s capacity to focus on a particular stimulus while ignoring others. It is a limited-capacity cognitive process that allows us to select and concentrate on specific inputs while filtering out others.
Attention is believed to involve several different brain regions, including the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, and ancient subcortical structures such as the thalamus and basal ganglia.
