A secular country is the most inclusive and fair option for all religions. The violence and conflict that stemmed from dividing the country based on faith are obvious examples of why a secular government is necessary.

Additionally, India is home to many religions, not just Hinduism and Islam. By separating the country based solely on those two religions, we would disregard the rights and beliefs of other religious minorities. A secular government ensures equality for all faiths.

Gandhi was right, at least at this point.
